If you attended college, even if only for a year, chances are you took some psych class. We all do this. It doesn’t matter if we have intentions to major in it or not. Psychology is just one of those routine standard college courses that everyone takes toward the beginning so that they can feel as though they’re truly acquiring a higher education. Okay, maybe that sounds a bit strange or false. Anyway, my first bout with Intro to Psych, an old professor, and a few psychology research articles was interesting, no doubt. Suddenly I was learning the doorways of the mind and why it is people do what they do. But, is it really legit?
I’m a bit wishy-washy when it comes to old and modern psychology research articles. No offense to Freud and all of his followers, but he’s just another man with an opinion. Opinions, observations and theories are great like that. We all have them, and we love to think of them as divine. Unfortunately this doesn’t make them fact. The truth is, when it comes to the human brain, there are no absolutes. It’s impossible to literally predict what someone is going to do next. You can observe their past behavior, and take a wild guess as to what’s about to happen, but that’s all it is. A guess! This is why psychology is in no way a perfect science. Modern psychology research articles are helpful in understanding human actions and obscure behavior, but they are typically based on groups of test subjects. Not on a particular individual. This poses a major flaw if this certain individual doesn’t apply.
Tom Cruise doesn’t need psychology research articles and drugs administered by doctors to deal with life’s hardships. Now this is a fascinating subject. Although I see some truth and sense in what the man is saying, he’s likely taking it a tad too far. Personally I think modern medicine and psychology research articles serve their purpose in this world, but nothing is ever written in stone. I do recommend that everyone take at least one psychology class at some point in their life. It’s a helpful way to better understand the way humans react to any number of situations. It can get you out of a confrontation if you apply it correctly. Well, at least some times.
